In my practice, I provide a range of services. I work with adults, adolescents, couples and families in short and long-term psychotherapy. I have worked successfully with diverse problems, and have specialized expertise and extensive training in the treatment of posttraumatic stress and other problems related to exposure to trauma and abuse. I enjoy working with people regarding depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, cross-cultural issues and life transitions. I am uniquely qualified to treat young adults, physicians and humanitarian aid workers.

Trained in psychodynamic therapy (insight focused), family systems therapy (relationship and pattern focused), cognitive-behavioral therapy (skill building focused) and other evidence-based techniques, I use an integrated approach to therapy that tailors each treatment to meet the unique needs and goals of each client. I believe that both therapist and client bring expertise to the treatment relationship. By partnering psychological theory and practice with your intimate knowledge of your own life, we will create a treatment plan that will achieve your goals. I specialize in providing treatment that fosters deep insight and change, while focused on improving present functioning and coping skills.

Clients describe my approach to therapy as warm, non-judgmental, and active. In therapy, I strive to create an environment of safety, acceptance and curiosity that will allow us to better understand patterns of thinking feeling or behavior and where they are coming from so that unhelpful patterns may be challenged and changed to allow for long-lasting change.

In addition to psychotherapy, I offer:

  • Clinical assessment and referral
  • Education and training on mental health issues
  • Post-trauma crisis intervention
  • Organizational consulting
  • Global mental health and psychosocial consulting (assessment, capacity building, program development and M&E)
